Buildings

1. Faculty of Science Building

The building was completed in 1980 with an area of 10, 260 sq. meters; its construction was funded by a number of contributors.

2. Omar Aggad Engineering Building

With a generous contribution from Omar Aggad, the building was completed in 1984 with an area of 12,500 sq. meters.

3. Engineering workshops

Donated by Omar Aggad, the workshops omprises of two floors: the first was constructed in 1984 and the second  in 1995 with a total area of 1,790 sq. meters. It houses the Engineering Workshops for the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and the Deanship of Students Affairs.

4. Yusuf Ahmad Al Ghanim Library

The main building was built in 1985 with the support of Al Ghanim Industries. It houses Birzeit's Museum which was added as the building's annex in 2004 donated by the Kuwaiti Government. The building with the annex have  a total area of 6,128 sq. meters.  

5. Gabi Baramki Building- University Administration

Constructed in 1985,  the 2,025 sq. meters building was constructed with support of Zain Mayyasi and Walid Kattan. It was named for the late Professor Gabi Baramki who served as acting president of the university (1974-1993)

6. Kamal Nasir Hall

Built in 1985 with an area of 2216 sq. meters, the hall was donated by Abdel Mohsin Al-Qattan and has a capacity of 288 seats. Al-Qattan donated the construction cost in commemoration of the Palestinian poet Kamal Nasir, who was assassinated in a an Israeli raid in Beirut in 1973.

7. Abdul Rahman Al-Juraysi Building- Faculty of Business and Economics

The building was constructed in 1993 with an area of 4,500 sq. meters. It was donated by Abdul Rahman Juraysi.

8. Azeez Shaheen University Clinic

Established in 1998 with an area of 663 sq. meters.The building was donated by Azeez Shaheen and a number of his family members.

9.  Institute of Law Building

Donated by the French and Qatari Governments, the building comprises of two blocs: the first was constructed in 1998, and the second in 2009. The building has a total area of 2,865 sq. meters.

10. Sheikh Rashid Bin Said Al-Maktoum Building

The building was completed in 1999 with an area of 3,053 sq. meters. It houses the central cafeteria, students' council offices and other students' services. It was donated by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

11. Diana Tamari Sabbagh Center

Donated by Diana Tamari Sabbagh Foundation, the building was completed in 1999 with an area of 1,855 sq. meters.

12. Naseeb Azeez Shaheen Building for Graduate Studies

The building was completed in 2001 with an area of 1,518 sq. meters. It was donated by Naseeb Shaheen.

13. Kingdom of Bahrain Building for Women's Studies

Established in 2004, with an area of 1,839 sq. meters, the building was built with the support of Palestinian Support Committee in Bahrain via the Bahraini Chamber of Commerce. It includes the Institute of Women's Studies. 

14. Physical Education Building

The building was constructed in 2006 with a generous donation by Mohammad Omran Bamieh and Walid Kayyali. The Building, which has an area of 2,768 sq. meters, comprises an indoor sports hall that has a capacity of 700 spectators, as well as training facilities and offices.

15. Azeez Shaheen Building- Faculty of Arts

Donated by Shouky Shaheen, the building was completed in 2007. The total area of the building is 6,450 sq. meters.

16. Najjad Zeenni Information Technology Center of Excellence

Donated by Najjad Zeenni, the building was completed in 2008 with a total area of 1,220 sq. meters.

17. Said Khoury Building for Development Studies

Established in 2009, the building has an area of 3,611 sq. meters and was donated by Said Khoury.  

18. Walid and Helen Kattan Building- University Presidency

The building was established in 2009 with an area of 1,773 sq. meters. It was donated by Walid and Helen Kattan.

19. Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions Building

Established in 2009, the building was donated by Ghaleb Younis and has an area of 4,937 sq. meters.

20. Mohammad Omran Bamieh Building- Faculty of Education Building

Donated by Mohammad Omran Bamieh, the building was completed in 2010 with an area of 5,030 sq. meters. It includes a water tank with a capcity of 1200 cubic meters.

21. Mohammad Masrouji Building for Media

The media building was completed in 2013 with a total area of 2, 943 sq. meters. The building was donated by Mohamad Masrouji.

22. Munib Rashid Masri Building for Information Technology

Established in 2013 with the support of Munib Masri Foundation, the building consists of four floors with a total area of 4,232 sq. meters.

23. Samih Darwazah Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries

Established in 2014 with a generous donation by Samih Darwazah, the 1,215 sq. meters building includes research facilities that focus on pharmaceutical industries.

24. Naseeb Azeez Shaheen Auditorium

Established in 2015, the auditorium is equipped with the latest technical features, and has a capacity of 860 seats. The building has an area of 2,839 sq. meters.

25. Maintenance and Stores Building

The building has an area of 840 sq. meters.

26. Student Council Building

The building has an area of 135 sq. meters.

27. Riad Tawfik Al-Sadik Faulty of Law and Public Administration 

Established in 2017, the 5,200 square meter building has four floors and consists of a number of classrooms, lecture halls, legal training rooms, public halls and breakout spaces.

28. Ali El-Haj Stadium

Established in 2017, the 1020 sq. meters stadium was donated by the Palestinian businessman Mr. Ali El-Haj. 

29Zuheir Alami Building- Engineering Office and General Services Building

Inaugurated in 2018 with an area of 1004 sq. meters. The building was donated by Dr. Zuheir Alami and is comprised of three floors that include the university’s Engineering Office, General Services Department and Procurement and Supplies Unit.

30. Samir Abdulhadi Building- Faculty of Science\ Mathematics Wing

The building was inaugurated on 21 June 2019 with a generous donation from Samir Abdulhadi, a civil engineer. It is a 1450-square-meter building with four floors that include a breakout space, a cafeteria, and meeting and seminar rooms.

31. Omar Abdulhadi Building- Faculty of Business and Economics

The building was inaugurated on 21 June 2019 with a generous donation from Omar Abdulhadi. It is a 2650-square-meter building with four floors that include a number of classrooms, lecture halls, public halls and meeting rooms.

32. Samir Aweidah Building- Faculty of Art, Music and Design

The building was inaugurated in 27 June 2019. The 5,508 square-meter building has four floors that include specially-tailored halls, classrooms, studios, art- and design workshops, auditoriums, practice rooms, and theaters where students will be able to utilize state-of-the art resources to experiment, research, practice, and present their work.

  1. Munir Attallah Field

Constructed in 2004 with a generous donation by Munir Atallah, the field includes a football field and athletic track with a total area of 4000 sq. meters.

  1. Michel and Hakim Sanieh Observatory

Established in 2015, the observatory is donated by Ramez Hakim. It is located on the top floor of the Education Faculty, and includes a 16 inch Telescope and other complementary facilities.

  1. Samir Aweidah Garden Al-Shurfah

The 3,400 sq.meters Garden was inaugurated in 2014 with a generous donation by Samir Aweidah. It includes a 124 sq. meters cafeteria.

  1. Bookstore

It is built on area of 76 sq. meters.

  1. Water Tower

Built in 2008, the 500 cubic meter tower was funded by the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development.

  1. Ground Water Tanks

The university houses two ground water tanks: the first was constructed in 1998 with a capacity of 3000 cubic meters, and the second in 2016, and has a capacity of 3000 cubic meters. Both tanks were funded by  the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development.

  1. Waste Water Treatment Plant

The plant was constructed in 1976 to treat the university's wastewater, which has a maximum production capacity of 600 cubic meters per day. It was established on a total area of 500 sq. meters.

  1. Electric Generator Buildings

The university has three electric generators; Generator "A" which is built on a total area of 127 sq. meters, generator "B" built on an area of 117 sq. meters, and generator "C", donated by Mohammad Omran Bamieh, which was constructed in 2009 with a total area of 152 sq. meters.

  1. International Summer Work Camp Building

A 96 sq. metes area dedicated for the annual International Summer Camp

  1. Employees Housing
    With a generous contribution made by the Islamic Development Bank in 2004, Birzeit offers thirty- three rented apartments for its faculty, staff and guests.
  1. Female Students Housing
    The dormitory was constructed in 2004 through a loan from the Islamic Development Fund, with an area of 5, 250 sq. meters.
     
  2. Board of Trustees Building
    Located in Ramallah with a total area of 625 sq. meters.
