Birzeit University is governed by an autonomous Board of Trustees (BoT) consisting of academics and professionals from the Palestinian community and the Diaspora. It is managed by a set of councils that work together to maintain the university’s academic and day-to-day affairs.
The councils - the University Council and the Academic Council - comprise the university’s president, vice presidents, and deans, and maintain academic, administrative, and financial performance. Each of Birzeit University’s faculties is overseen by the respective dean, who monitors the faculty’s affairs together with the department chairs and the faculty’s council. Birzeit University’s institutes and centers are managed by their directors, who work together with the respective council/committee.
