University Spots the Transit of Mercury

On May 9, 2016, the Department of Physics and the Astronomy Club of Birzeit University has spotted Mercury’s transit across the sun through a monitoring session organized for students and other interested parties.Such transits of Mercury occur just once every eight years on average; the last one happened in 2006, and the next one won’t come until 2019.
