Director of the Master's Program in Women's Health participates in the annual meeting of MIDRED NORAD II Project

Dr. Sahar Hassan, Director of MIDRED NORADII project and Director of the Master’s Program in Women’s Health participated in the annual meeting of the project jointly with other partners from Oslometropolitan University in Norway and the University of Ghana, which was held in Istanbul / Turkey in the period between 14 and 20 April 2024. 

The project teams from the three countries participated in holding a series of intensive meetings aimed to present the achievements and challenges faced by the project activities during the year 2023. It also included presenting educational and research activities and examples from the master’s programs of the participating countries.

During the week, Dr. Sahar presented two presentations.  First, a summary of the achievements and challenges that faced the project during the year 2023, and plans for the year 2024. Then, Dr. Sahar presented a lecture on the use of concepts and theories related to women’s health in teaching master’s students and presented an example from one of the courses in the Master’s program in women’s health, while Dr. Hadeel Al-Masri (Adjunct assistant professor) in the Master’s Program in Women’s Health, who participated in the annual meeting, presented a lecture about learning and teaching in the program by providing an example used in teaching master’s students. 

The project director at the University of Ghana also presented the project’s progress and challenges for the year 2023. One of the participating professors from the University of Ghana gave a lecture about the principles of supervising master’s students’ research. From Oslo Metropolitan University, the project director, Dr. Berit Mortenson presented the progress of the project and its challenges for the year 2023. Two professors from Oslo Metropolitan University also gave two presentations on theories related to midwifery care and women's health, and the second presentation was on Qualitative Research Synthesis and methods. The team also discussed plans for 2024.

The project team arranged a visit to the Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul University. The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the heads of the nursing and midwifery programs departments at the university gave a presentation on the health programs. The team toured around the university, including the laboratories of the Faculty of Health Sciences, specifically the practical training laboratories for the nursing and midwifery programs. There was a discussion about ways to enhance cooperation and relations with Istanbul University.
