Islah Jad Selected as Vera Campbell Resident Scholar

Director of the Birzeit University Women’s Studies Institute Islah Jad was selected from among 33 competing candidates to be a 2013-2014 Vera Campbell Resident Scholar. As a result, Jad will be spending nine months at the School for Advanced Research (SAR) in the US from September 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014.
The fellowship program is designed to support writing and research needs and to encourage interaction with the school’s scholarly community.
The School for Advanced Research was established in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1907 as a center for the study of the archaeology and ethnology of the American Southwest. Since 1967, the scope of the school’s activities has embraced a global perspective through programs to encourage advanced scholarship in anthropology and related social science disciplines and the humanities, and to facilitate the work of Native American scholars and artists.
