Dr. Sahar Hassan participates in European Training in Effective Adolescent Care and Health in Switzerland

As part of the activities of the NORAD II project, Dr. Sahar Hassan, director of the project and the Women's Health master’s program at Birzeit University, participated in the European Training in Effective Adolescent Care and Health (EuTEACH), which took place from July 8 to 15, 2023, at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

The training was supervised by specialists and physicians from the Interdisciplinary Division for Adolescent Health (DISA), which provides healthcare services for adolescents at the Vaud University Hospital Center (CHUV). EuTEACH is a multidisciplinary network of trainers from more than 20 countries across Europe and the globe. It has been the leading international provider of training material and courses in the field of adolescent health for more than 20 years. This training program was implemented ten years ago in Palestine by the University of Lausanne for a group of physicians in the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Hassan emphasized the significance of EuTEACH, particularly as adolescent health is one of the core courses in the Women's Health master’s program at Birzeit University, where it is taught for the first time in Palestine within a specialized academic course at the university level.

Participants in the training included academics and health advisors from international organizations as well as pediatric physicians from Britain, Portugal, Sweden, Moldova, Lithuania, Tajikistan and Switzerland.

During the training, Dr. Sahar met with participants from the University of Lausanne as well as universities in Britain, the Netherlands, Portugal and Moldova, who showed a keen interest in Palestine, and explored collaboration prospects.

They also visited the Interdisciplinary Division for Adolescent Health at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). During the field visit, they learned about the unit’s facilities, the cases received at the unit and the manner in which the hospital deals with these cases.
