Birzeit University to open women’s health master program next semester

Birzeit University’s new Master of Women’s Health, offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions, will begin this fall for the 2022–23 academic year.

The 36-credit-hour program was recently accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The new degree will offer an advanced understanding of the ethical and professional aspects required to deliver a high standard of health care for women.

Rania Abu Hamdah, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions, said the Women’s Health master’s program is filled with opportunities to improve women’s health and well-being at every age. The unique program, according to Abu Hamdah, will prepare students to put their knowledge into practice and make a difference in women’s quality of life.

The students, continued Abu Hamdah, will be armed with specialist knowledge, advanced clinical skills and research.

The program targets students who have experience in women’s health in general, including in nursing, midwifery, nutrition, pharmacy, physical therapy and the like. Abu Hamdah pointed out that the program welcomes all those who work in governmental or private sectors, international organizations or NGOs.

To provide equal opportunities for all applicants, the program will offer scholarships for midwives and partial financial aid for applicants for other applicants who are specialized in nursing, pharmacy, nutrition…etc.
