Birzeit University’s President and the Mexican Ambassador Discuss Ways of Cooperation
The Mexican Ambassador, Mr. Pedro Blanco Perez, visited Birzeit University on Monday, March 25, 2024, and met its president Dr. Talal Shahwan, and its vice president for advancement Dr. Yaser Amouri. The two parties discussed methods of increasing the cooperation between Birzeit University and Mexican universities.
The meeting kicked off with Dr. Shahwan giving the ambassador an overview of Birzeit University’s formation, its development, and its academic programs, noting that this year marks its centenary.
Dr. Shahwan affirmed Birzeit University’s desire to develop cooperation with Mexico to more than only teaching the Spanish language; to encompass more areas of study and research.
In turn, Mr. Perez congratulated Dr. Shahwan on becoming the university’s president, wishing him success and good luck. The ambassador expressed his delight in visiting Birzeit University and getting to know its programs and facilities. He lauded the bilateral relations of Mexico and Palestine, and he expressed his intent to strengthen these relations, especially in the field of education.
The meeting was then followed by a tour of the campus where Mr. Perez became familiar with facilities and buildings of the university.
