Birzeit University students achieve first and third places in national IEEE contest

Two Birzeit University teams achieved first and third places in the national round of the IEEE Pioneers competition organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. The IEEE Pioneers contest requires students to employ entrepreneurial skills to address social issues using technological innovation.

Following their victory, the teams qualified to compete at the international level against Middle Eastern, African and European teams.

The teams comprised of computer engineering and physics students. The team “TheSolvers” included Osama Zeidan and Hussein Abu Ghosh, while the team “SmartSales” included Shatha Yasin and Yara Mustafa.

The teams were supervised by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit and received entrepreneurship training in light of market needs and global technology trends. The teams were also assisted in developing and presenting their entrepreneurial ideas for the contest.

The contest was organized by the IEEE Birzeit University Student Branch to promote technology and innovation, hold national and international contests in partnership with Arab and global branches, exchange experiences between the students, enhance students’ coding and teamwork skills and solve problems using programming and technology.
