Birzeit University participates in workshop on digital transformation of higher education

A Birzeit University team participated in the third workshop of the “Accelerating Digital Transformation of Higher Education in the Middle East” project, held in conjunction with the Francophone University Agency. Focusing on flipped classroom models and strategies, the workshop took place on January 28-February 4, 2023, in Beirut, Lebanon.

Launched two years ago, the project aims to promote digital education in Middle Eastern universities. During the workshop, Dr. Jean-Noël Baléo, regional director of Francophone University Agency in the Middle East, stressed the significance of this collaboration for capacity building, especially in Palestinian universities.

In addition to the workshop, the team met with Dr. Ogarit Younan, president of the Academic University College for Non-Violence and Human Rights in Beirut, and discussed the cooperation agreement between the parties. The team also met with representatives of the American University of Beirut, including President Dr. Fadlo Khuri, Deputy Provost Dr. Lina Choueiri and Associate Provost Dr. Jocelyn DeJong and discussed cooperation prospects between the universities.

Lastly, they met with Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour, who highlighted the importance of higher educational institutions for advancing Palestinian academic structures.
