Birzeit University mourns the death of the President of the Islamic University of Gaza following their martyrdom in the Israeli bombardment

Birzeit University represented by its president, management, staff, and student; mourns the martyrdom of Dr. Sufyan Abdul Rahman Tayeh, the President of the Islamic University in Gaza. He was martyred alongside his family in the massacre the Israeli occupation committed in Jabalia, which took the lives of more than 100 people.

Dr. Tayeh holds a professorship in theoretical physics and applied mathematics. He was appointed president of the university, and was the UNESCO’s Chair for Physics, Astrophysics and Space Sciences this year.

Dr. Yayeh was among the top 2% of researchers worldwide, based on a study done by the global publishing house Elsevier and Stanford University. Moreover, he has great contributions in the scientific research field that are published yearly in prestigious scientific journals. Additionally, he holds the Abdul Hamid Shoman for Young Arab Scientists award among numerous others.

Glory for the martyrs, recovery for the wounded ones, and freedom for the captives.
