Birzeit University launches three-day student orientation program
On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Birzeit University commenced its three-day student orientation program to welcome new students, who were admitted into Birzeit University’s bachelor’s programs for the Fall Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The program includes many sessions and activities that aim to introduce students to the university facilities and units and integrate them into the university community.
The university is expecting to host around 2700 student from across all faculties. In the first day, the university hosted newly admitted students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, while the second day targeted students of the Faculty of Business and Economics. The orientation program will conclude on Thursday, September 21, with activities targeting students of the Faculty of Arts; Faculty of Art, Music and Design; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Law and Public Administration; Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions; and Faculty of Science.
In his speech, Birzeit University President Dr. Talal Shahwan welcomed students and wished them a university life filled with success and excellence. He asserted, “Birzeit University spares no effort in providing an exemplary university atmosphere that encourages students to excel academically and to engage with other students and professors on campus to experience a rich student life that will build their character and develop their skills. In addition to pursuing academic excellence, I urge you to seize this opportunity by engaging in various extracurricular activities, as it is an integral part of the learning experience and student life on campus.”
He added, “Birzeit University fosters a national and humanitarian mission that values liberty, pluralism, critical thinking, lifelong learning and a spirit of initiative and responsibility toward the community and environment. This mission stems from a comprehensive national vision that encompasses all constituents of the Palestinian identity, including knowledge, heritage, culture, art, material production and the struggle for liberation. Achieving this vision requires the collaboration of all university components to harvest the creativity of their intersecting efforts, as promoting education, scientific research and artistic production, along with consolidating a sense of community, leads to graduating cohorts of students who are committed to national and humanitarian values and to developing all sectors of their community.”
The student orientation program is an annual tradition through which the university seeks to introduce newly admitted students to the opportunities available on campus and to the activities and programs offered by the university facilities and units to enrich their university experience and help them integrate into the university community.
