Birzeit University celebrates Birzeit Nights festival
On October 5-6, 2023, Birzeit University held the Birzeit Nights Festival, an artistic and patriotic event celebrating the cultural heritage and folklore of Palestine.
The first day was marked by captivating performances from the Baladi Dabka group and the singer Dalal Abu Amneh and her ensemble. The grand finale unfolded on Friday, October 6, featuring mesmerizing acts by Al-Istiqlal University Folk Arts Group and the renowned Palestinian singer, Mohammed Assaf.
This distinguished event serves as an embodiment of the rich tapestry of Palestinian culture, diligently nurturing the preservation of Palestinian artistry and traditions. The artists’ performances resonated deeply with themes of patriotism and cultural richness, encapsulating Birzeit University’s steadfast dedication to the Palestinian heritage.
The event was attended by a multitude of eminent figures from the political, academic, and societal spheres, most notably Dr. Talal Shahwan, president of Birzeit University , and Dr. Iyad Tumar, dean of Student Affairs. Their words resounded with the profound mission of nurturing and disseminating Palestinian culture as a window to the Palestinian national identity.
The entire proceeds amassed through this celebration will be channeled towards the Birzeit University Student Support Fund, a noble endeavor dedicated to supporting low-income students to help them finance their studies at the university.
