Dr. Abdallah Abu Taha receives research grant from World Academy of Sciences

Dr. Abdallah Abu Taha, assistant professor at the Department of Biology and Biochemistry, received a USD 22,000 grant from the World Academy of Sciences to support his scientific research that investigates the molecular aspects of leukocytes-endothelium interactions during inflammation.

Dr. Abu Taha elaborated: “We discovered two forms of VE-cadherin immunostaining patterns that point to different functional sub-domains along endothelial junctions. We plan to characterize these different functional subdomains and dissect their molecular organization and crosstalk with leukocytes during LE. This will accumulate basic knowledge that will be translated into medical practice in the long run.”

The World Academy of Sciences supports the advancement of science and scientific research in developing countries through grants and fellowships.
