Scholars Recommend Establishing Policies to Promote Research Ethics

Birzeit University’s Committee for Scientific Research Ethics held a roundtable on April 30, 2013 in which participants recommended enactment of policies that promote scientific research ethics.
Sunaina Maira, Professor of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Davis in the US presented a lecture entitled "Research Ethics: a Literature Review." She explained the various protocols and methods used to ensure the application of scientific research ethics.
"I hope that Birzeit University will be one of the initiators of scientific research ethics [in Palestine],” she said, “since Birzeit took the initiative in holding this lecture and a good number of those interested are present to reflect the university’s concern about scientific research ethics."
Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Research Ethics Board at the University of Windsor in Canada, Pierre Boulos, spoke by videoconference about the problems of scientific research rights and the obstacles facing the application of research ethics.
Professor of philosophy and chair of the Birzeit University Committee for Scientific Research Ethics Mudar Kassis joined in the round table, along with a number of faculty and staff members from the university libraries.
