University Research Center Expansion Begins

A program to develop business and economic research centers at Palestinian higher education institutions kicked off on March 21, 2016 in a meeting co-hosted by the Faculty of Business and Economics at Birzeit University and the Faculty of Commerce at the Islamic University of Gaza.

The program is designed for Palestinian and European partner universities under the Eramsus + program, and aims to foster an environment of cooperation in scientific and practical/applied research while upholding the standards of internationally respected journals and practices in the field of business/economics.

The two-day meeting addressed the roles of various Palestinian and European universities under the Eramsus + programs in a number of sessions. Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics Grace Khoury facilitated a session presenting the role of Birzeit University in enhancing academic and practical research production among staff and students, through a research unit soon to be established.  

Three representatives of the project’s European partners attended the meeting at Birzeit University, while the Gaza partners joined in via video conferencing.

The program is funded by the Erasmus+ initiative with partners including The Islamic University, Gaza; Al Azhar University, Gaza; Al Quds Open University, Palestine; University College of Applied Sciences, Gaza; Universita delgi Studi di L’Aquila, Italy; Universidad de Almeria, Spain; KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden; and the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
