Two teams of Birzeit University computer engineering students will participate in the ACM Arab Programing Competition after taking leading positions in the 10th ACM Palestinian Collegiate Programming Contest, held between October 9 and 10, 2022.

The teams won first and fourth place after competing with various teams from Palestinian universities, solving real-world problems and developing their coding and software skills.

The team winning first place is made up of students Suhaib Sawalha, Mohammad Milhem and Bassem Hijaz, with the second team including students Ruba Katout, Mazen Batrawi and Huthaifa Mutan.

Associate professor Mohammed Hussein, who oversees training and competition in the bachelor’s computer science program at Birzeit University, expressed his pride in the students’ skills and computing abilities, which qualified them for the regional competition.

Inaugurated in 1970, the ACM competition is an international programming contest aimed at undergraduate students to allow the opportunity to foster their creativity and innovation while performing under pressure to solve challenging problems through algorithmic programing.
