Birzeit University disburses first payment of INNOMED-UP sub-grants

Birzeit University conducted two meetings in Nablus and Hebron to disburse 30% of the INNOMED UP sub-grants for pilot innovation products, innovation vouchers, and cross-border mentorship schemes. The meetings took place on January 24-26, 2023.

Birzeit University team held discussions with fifteen sub-grant coordinators, partners and beneficiaries on financial and administrative instructions and procedures regarding the sub-grants and the university regulations. 

In addition, the sub-grant coordinators in Nablus and Hebron presented their concerns regarding the prototypes of the pilot clusters, taxes procedures, visa setup, registration in international institutions and the grant disbursement process for the cross-border mentorship award. 

Birzeit University management discussed the disbursement of the sub-grants and the action plan to guarantee accuracy, transparency, quality assurance and the eligibility of the grantees for the next disbursement.  

Dr. Shadi Al Ghadban, professor at the Department of Architectural Engineering, concluded the meetings by encouraging the beneficiaries of the pilot innovation products grants and innovation vouchers to develop their workshops and pilot products. He also encouraged the beneficiaries of the cross-border mentorship schemes to benefit from the training and to upgrade their work.

The Promoting Upcycling in Circular Economy through Innovation and Education for Creative Industries in Mediterranean Cities project (INNOMED-UP) project works at a cross-border level to shift local urban economies towards a circular production and consumption paradigm and improve waste management in Greece, Italy, Tunisia, Jordan and Palestine. The INNOMED-UP supports projects in Nablus and Hebron in partnership with Birzeit University.
