Birzeit Nights Festival scheduled for October 5-6

Birzeit University prepares to celebrate the Birzeit Nights Festival (Layali Birzeit) on October 5-6, 2023. The festival includes concerts and shows presented by Palestinian and Arab dance troupes and artists. All festival proceeds go toward Birzeit University’s Student Fund to help low-income students finance their studies at the university.

Organized in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, the Birzeit Nights Festival is an artistic and national event that aims to promote and enrich Palestinian art and folklore.

Dr. Iyad Tumar, dean of the Student Affairs, stressed Birzeit University’s commitment to reviving Palestinian artistic and cultural heritage, noting that the festival is an artistic and national celebration that preserves the Palestinian heritage and committed art. He added that the Birzeit Nights Festival is a gathering venue, where Birzeit University alumni, students and current and previous employees meet and reminisce about their days at the university.

The first day of the festival will feature Dalal Amneh, artist and singer renowned for preserving the Palestinian and Arab artistic heritage, along with the Baladi Dance Troupe. In the second day, the festival will host Mohammad Assaf, Palestinian pop singer and winner of the second season of Arab Idol, as well as the Al-Istiqlal University Folk Art Troupe.

First organized in 1984, the festival was revived by the Deanship of Student Affairs in 2011 after being halted for 25 years. The festival features renowned Palestinian and Arab artists and is attended by thousands of people from across Palestine.
