Board of Trustees

Birzeit University (BZU) is governed by an autonomous Board of Trustees (BoT) consisting of academics and professionals from the Palestinian community and the Diaspora. The BoT supports and maintains the independence of BZU; it promotes the reputation, development and success of the University to enable it to serve the Palestinian community in the fields of culture and education. The BoT has no political, religious, or sectarian affiliations.

The BoT is composed of a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 members who have the experience and competencies to perform the responsibilities entrusted to them to fulfill the mission of BZU. The President of the University is an ex-officio member of the BoT. An Executive Committee drawn from the BoT and consisting of seven to nine members, including the Chair of the BoT, the Deputy Chair, the Secretary General and Treasurer, monitors daily operations. The BoT holds two ordinary meetings annually and the Administrative Committee holds at least four meetings a year.
