In 2005, after the growth of the centers and institutes at the university that serve the local community, the Vice President for Community Affairs Office was set up to monitor the outputs of these institutes and centers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop strategic plans for all the institutes and centers at Birzeit University and focus on their impact inside and outside the university
- Identify the social, cultural, economic and political needs to be addressed through applied research and data analysis, which are carried out by institutes and centers in their attempt to achieve societal, academic excellence and innovative researches.
- Implement the university's mission vis-a-vis its contribution to community development and to meet the growing needs and initiate creative and innovative initiatives
- Follow up on the vision of these institutes and centers that underscore the building of a solid advanced society, based on the foundations of national liberation and social justice, while focusing on the local Palestinian community and in the Diaspora
