Pharmacy
The mission of the Bachelor of Pharmacy program is to graduate highly educated and well-trained pharmacists to promote the practice standards of the profession of pharmacy in Palestine and to enrich the sector of pharmaceutical research and development in Palestine and the region. This mission reflects Birzeit University's mission in supporting education, scientific research, and community outreach.
A. Provide graduates with scientific knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical analysis, and therapeutics. As well as provide them with the research and professional skills to effectively practice and improve the profession in a wide variety of current and potential future roles in hospitals, community pharmacies, academic institutions, research institutions, governmental bodies, and the pharmaceutical industry.
B. Improve the graduate's analytical thinking skills, problem-solving, and linking theoretical aspects with practical applications.
C. Provide the graduates with the necessary fundamental skills, ethics, and values required for the pharmacy profession. In addition, provide students with the necessary skills needed to practice the pharmacy profession, such as conducting applied scientific research, working at pharmacies, industry, and other related institutions.
D. Develop graduates' skills related to professional competence and effective communication.
A. Upon the completion of the program, the student will be able to :
a. Have scientific knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical analysis, and therapeutics.
b. Gain research and professional skills to effectively practice and improve the profession in various pharmacy practice setting such as hospitals, community pharmacies, academic institutions, research institutions, governmental bodies, and the pharmaceutical industry.
c. Demonstrate knowledge in basic and medical sciences, disease states, drug therapy, drug interactions, and adverse effects, and describe the different pharmaceutical dosage forms and their manufacturing techniques.
d. Gain analytical thinking skills, problem-solving, and linking theoretical l applications; gain decision-making skills regarding choosing optimum drug therapy for patients.
e. Develop the fundamental skills, ethics, and values required for the pharmacy profession.
f. Gain professional competence, effective communication, and patient counseling skills with healthcare team members.
