Legal definitions and concepts pertaining to refugee status.  The experience of dispersion and exile, and ways of adjustment and survival.  Identity and political organizing among refugees.  The preservation of original identities among refugees. The impact of refugees on host societies and states.  The individual and collective rights of refugees.  International, governmental, and non-governmental organizations working with refugees.  The course focuses on the Palestinian experience from a comparative perspective.
