Specification for primary construction materials; concrete, steel, wood, behavior of structural systems under loading, calculation of forces and internal stresses for simple models of simply supported beams, continuous beams, frames, trusses, cables and arches, definition and comparison of statically determinant and in-determinant structures , design loads, design requirements for structural systems under horizontal and vertical loading, choice of structural system based on behavior, basic concepts of tension elements, compression elements, beams, slabs , pre-stressed slabs, 2D and 3D trusses, arches, shells, ceilings and curtain walls. (Lecture 3 hrs.).
