EDUC4304 | CHILDREN'S LITERATURE

The course introduces students to a range of genres and forms of children's literature as well as to some of the significant authors and illustrators of children's storybook. The language features and conventions of these genres will be considered in some depth in order to develop  students’  critical understanding of the literary and visual devices that are used to convey meaning. This provides opportunities for students to explore a wide range of contemporary children's literature including picture storybooks, short chapter stories and short novels within a framework of reader response theory in relation to social, cultural and political practice.
