DSGN1420 | DESIGN STUDIO 1: FOUNDATION 1

Introduction to fundamental principles and elements of design; form space and structure, geometric relations, spatial composition, materiality, utility, scale, introduction to journal writing and sketching experiences to communicate design problems, design processes,and design concepts. Emphasizing critical thinking and creative problem solving, examining interrelationship between form and content, design composition and materials. Enhance student’s ability to deal with abstract compositions through various exercises. Lectures will cover principles and elements of design, spatial organizational and compositional systems, martials and tactility, and principles of aesthetics (1hour theory, 9 hours practical).
