ARAB2300 | INTRODUCTION TO SIGN LANGUAGE

This course is designed to provide students with the basics of sign language in terms of theory and practice. It focuses on sign language definition, components, usage, and various types. The course will enable students to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the Arabic finger alphabet, Palestinian Sign Language, different sign language terms, and visual nonverbal communication. Moreover, the course will focus on the distinctive body postures, facial expressions, and mouthing that accompany signing. Students will learn necessary vocabulary needed to tell about jobs, colors, directions, religions, numbers, and food. Grammatical features such as pronouns, plural forms, negation, emphasis, and questions will also be covered in this course.
