This course envisages to discuss issues related to women in Islam (East and West) including the role of women in Islam, their history, and their rights. The course will re-read women's status and history in Islam in historical and religious texts. The goal is to deconstruct the prevailing discourse, policies and legislation that claim founding their legitimacy on religious texts.
