Birzeit University and University of Potsdam explore collaboration prospects

Dr. Talal Shahwan, vice president for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ahmad Aljanazrah, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs, visited the University of Potsdam, Germany, in response to an invitation extended by the host university. The visit, which took place June 17 to 22, 2023, is part of an academic exchange project supervised by the External Academic Relations Office at Birzeit University.

During the visit, Dr. Shahwan and Dr. Aljanazrah met with the vice president for International Affairs and Fundraising as well as the vice president for Teaching and Studies and her assistants. They also visited various centers and units at the University of Potsdam, such as the Center for Information Technology and Media Management, the Center for Quality Development in Teaching and Learning and the university library.

Dr. Shahwan and Dr. Aljanazrah also met with the e-assessment project team, the VR classroom specialist and the multimedia and education specialist. They discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on education and the potential application of VR technology in classrooms. They also learned about the experience of the University of Potsdam in upholding academic quality, developing academic content, designing e-assessments, utilizing educational platforms and preparing classrooms for effective instruction.

The two parties agreed to arrange student and faculty visits, exchange experiences, enhance collaboration and develop joint research projects and academic programs.
