Media students launch online campaigns against violations of educational and digital rights

In view of ongoing violations of Palestinian educational and digital rights, media students at Birzeit University launched two online campaigns that promote the protection of Palestinian educational rights and digital life, as part of the Hashtag Palestine course offered by the Department of Media.

Launched on Facebook and Instagram, thirty students participated in the campaigns.

The Education Campaign shed light on Israeli violations against Birzeit University students, including student arrests, campus raids and restrictions on international academics and student exchange.

As for the Protect Your Digital Life Campaign, it aimed to raise awareness of digital rights and safety in light of growing cyberspaces and social media. The campaign also aimed to educate students on restrictions on Palestinian digital content and means to overcome them.

In addition to university students, the campaigns targeted those aged 17-30, as they are the most vulnerable to violations and extortions.
