Joint Workshop Seeks to End Gender-Based Discrimination

Birzeit University’s Deanship of Student Affairs concluded on December 8, 2016 a workshop raising awareness on gender-based and human rights issues, offered in cooperation with the Women’s Center for Legal Aid and Counseling.

Twenty-three students participated in the workshop and were trained by legal and social specialists from WCLAC. The course addressed the causes and challenges that face women's rights activists and organizations in Palestine, especially when addressing legislation and regulation.

Dean of Student Affairs Mohammad Al Ahmad said that the training tackled important issues such as gender equality, violence against women, and the effectiveness of Palestinian laws in relation to gender issues.

WCLAC Project Manager Amal Abu Srour indicated that these joint workshops are part of the center's mission to develop a democratic Palestinian society based on the principles of gender equality and social justice.
