Dr. Shadi Ghadban, director of the INNOMED-UP project at Birzeit, asserted that the project funds cultural and creative projects to foster the recycling of waste and unwanted materials in Mediterranean cities. INNOMED-UP collaborates with the Architectural Engineering Department at Birzeit University to support artisans through four-month contracts.

The project offers grantees internships and €10,000 worth of equipment to incorporate technological innovation in handicraft industry.
