Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Appointed Chair of Palestine Capital Market Authority

The Palestinian cabinet has appointed Birzeit University Business and Economics Faculty Dean Mohamed Nasr as director of the board of the Palestine Capital Market, which is the body that regulates the capital and securities, insurance, financial leasing, real estate, mortgage and the non-banking financial sectors.

"This appointment by the Council of Ministers is not a personal recognition,” Nasr said, “but an expression of recognition of Birzeit University, which is proud of having one of its faculty members in such an important position."

Nasr earned a doctorate and master's degree in economics from the University of Ohio, in the United States, in addition to a master's degree in business administration from Wayne State University. He is currently a board member of the Palestine Investment Fund.

Nasr has also formerly served as chairman of the Governance Institute board, director of the Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS), and chair of the Yarmouk University Economics Department in Irbid, Jordan.

Moreover, Nasr is member of several committees, including the Central Elections Commission, the Coalition for Integrity and Accountability (AMAN), the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and the National Committee for Corporate Governance.
