Electrical and Computer Engineering students achieve 2nd place in Undergraduate Research Competition at Abu Dhabi University

Ghaida Khatib and Momen Abdul-Hafeeth, students at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, achieved second place in the 10th Undergraduate Research Competition (URC) organized by Abu Dhabi University, UAE, on May 18, 2023.

Supervised by Dr. Adnan Yahya, professor at the same department, the student won second place for their research “Efficient Arabic Query Auto-Completion for Question Answering at a University.”

Developed based on their graduation project, their research was published on the IEEE Xplore digital library after they presented it in the 2022 International Arab Conference on Information Technology, organized by Al Ain University, UAE, on November 22, 2022.

URC is the largest undergraduate research event in the Middle East and South Africa. It serves as a scientific platform, where student present their undergraduate scientific research and graduation projects. It aims to support students by offering additional mentoring and funding to develop their projects into viable products or services.
