Dr. Issam Halayqa is appointed as member of National Library of Palestine’s Board of Directors

The Palestinian Presidency issued the decision of establishing a board of directors for the National Library of Palestine under the chairmanship of Issa Qaraqe. Dr. Issam Halayqa, professor and chairperson of the Department of History and Archaeology, was appointed as representative of Birzeit University in the board.

The representation of Birzeit University in the board aims to promote collaboration between the National Library of Palestine and the university. Birzeit University seeks to expand its connections with the National Library of Palestine, considering the library’s status as a cultural and national project that fosters the steadfastness of Palestinians by preserving their cultural heritage and intellectual production.

Dr. Halayqa obtained his PhD from the Free University of Berlin, Germany. His research focuses on Canaanite languages, dialects, texts and calligraphy, along with the influence of the Canaanite and Aramaic languages on the Palestinian dialect and ancient coins in Palestine.
