Birzeit University introduces new bachelor’s program in medical laboratory sciences

Birzeit University’s new Medical Laboratory Science bachelor’s program received approval from the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The program will commence in the Fall Semester of the 2023-24 academic year.

Medical laboratory sciences are constantly expanding in light of the development of new technologies in the field of public health and clinical medicine. This expansion increases the need and demand for skilled and well-trained professionals in hospitals, pharmaceutical corporations, food and medical equipment companies and academic institutions.

The program seeks to graduate qualified specialists with scientific knowledge and high practical skills to work in and lead development in medical laboratories. It also aspires to prepare students to join graduate programs and raise the level of medical laboratory and health services in Palestine.

Housed in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health professions, the program consists of 129 credit hours that include university requirements, college requirements and compulsory and elective major requirements. Admission is open to students holding general secondary school certificate in the scientific branch or other equivalent certificates.
