This course discusses the medical, psychological, and sociological definitions and understandings of mental disabilities, such as Down Syndrome. It covers causes of such disabilities, diagnostic methods, characteristics of students who have such disabilities, programs, curricula and instructional methods developed for teaching such students, and the reality of services available for serving students with mental disabilities.
