Birzeit University’s current 750-dunam campus is located on a hill overlooking a series of peaks that spread towards the Mediterranean. It is positioned on the archaeological site known as Khirbet Birzeit. The campus is located in the outskirts of Birzeit town, near Ramallah city, 20 kilometers northwest of Jerusalem.

Before 1980, the university made use of the Nasir family home and neighboring buildings as its campus. The original elementary school occupied those grounds in 1924, before becoming a community college and then a university.
