Birzeit University campus is located on a hill overlooking a series of hills spreading towards the Mediterranean, and is positioned on the archaeological site known as Khirbet Birzeit. The campus is located in the outskirts of Birzeit town, near Ramallah city, 20 kilometers northwest of Jerusalem. Birzeit has moderate weather and is located 850 meters above sea level and covered with olive trees.

Before 1980, the university made use of an old campus consisting of the Nasir family home and neighboring buildings. The original elementary school occupied those grounds in 1924, before becoming a community college and then a university.

Today, the campus and its buildings, parks and facilities stands on approximately 750 dunams.
