Biography

Dr. Ali Abdo received his B.Sc. degree in electronic
engineering from Al-quds University (Palestine) in 2005, M.Sc. degree in P
ower and Automation from University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) in 2008. An
d he got the Ph.D. degree in 2013 in electrical engineering from Institute
for Automatic Control and Complex Systems (AKS), University of Duisburg-Es
sen. Mr. Abdo got many awards and scholarships throughout his study. His re
search interests include model-based fault diagnosis, fault detection in l
ateral vehicle dynamics and fault detection in switched systems.

tion

The complexity of modern automated and technical processes is cont
inuously growing due to the increasing demands for higher system performanc
e and product quality. Parallel to these demands, the safety and reliabili
ty in systems are needed. Therefore, process monitoring and fault diagnosi
s are becoming an ingredient of automatic modern systems. In this talk, th
e basics of fault detection will be introduced. Switched systems as a classof hybrid systems will be presented. The application of fault detection inthe switched system will be demonstrated in a real benchmark (lateral vehi
cle dynamics).
