‘World Diabetes Day’ at BZU promotes awareness on diabetes, eye care

Joining more 230 countries around the world, Birzeit University celebrated “World Diabetes Day”, held annually on the 14th of November. A number of activities, devoted to “Diabetes and Eye Care”, were organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions.

The activities, which aim to spread knowledge on diabetes, its causes, symptoms, and methods of treatment and prevention, included a health day devoted to “Diabetes and Eye Care,” comprising several booths that presented information to students in a simple and entertaining way.  

World Diabetes Day, launched in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization to combat the rise of diabetes around the world.  Each year, the day focuses on a different element that affects the risk of diabetes, such as “Eyes on Diabetes” or “Healthy Eating.”
