Music

The Arabic Music Program offers undergraduates the opportunity to major in music, affording students across the university access to first-rate faculty and providing performance opportunities in a wide range of ensembles.  A defining feature of the department is the high degree of interaction between music experts, undergraduates, and performance directors and ensembles. We believe that the performance of music is at the heart of the program's mission. We seek two complementary goals: to inform the performance of music through study of theory, and practical experience.

Recognizing that music greatly affects and enhancing our learning and living, Birzeit University is offering a new advanced academic program in music. The program, launched in cooperation with the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (NCM) in Ramallah, aims at spreading creative and vibrant musical culture among Palestinian youths.

Graduates of the program will be in the position to develop the professional music scene in Palestine to new and exciting levels.

The main objectives for the program are:

  • Providing our students the high-level of knowledge and skills in oriental music
  • Preparing students for a wide range of career options; locally and internationally
  • Engaging music experts from different countries in the program; for an effective and deep learning.
