Major French Language / Minor Palestinian Archaeology

The French Language Major / Palestinian Archaeology Minor program aims to provide an educational and research environment for students interested in cultural diversity, openness, and languages. It offers advanced teaching and learning methods that foster academic excellence, refining students' linguistic, analytical, and cultural skills. The program paves the way for students to advance both locally and globally by pursuing graduate studies in fields such as tourism and archaeology, literature, culture, linguistics, translation, and more. It also prepares them for integration into the job market in related fields.

The Palestinian Archaeology Minor trains students in essential skills for engaging with diverse cultural resources, particularly archaeological sites, and explores ways to develop and integrate them into various societal sectors. The program aims to produce graduates capable of handling primary materials and utilizing acquired knowledge and techniques for development. It focuses on three key areas: archaeology, cultural heritage management, and tourism development.

-    Enhancing graduates' academic level in alignment with global and national standards, enabling them to enter the job market and/or pursue graduate studies, contributing effectively to national development.
-    Developing students’ linguistic skills, including mastery of oral and communicative competencies in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), along with intercultural and social communication skills.
-    Fostering students' understanding of Francophone societies and cultures, as well as the social and political implications of the French language’s spread in these communities.
-    Equipping students with methodological and analytical skills, including proficiency in research tools and critical thinking.
-    Preparing specialized professionals for careers in cultural heritage management and tourism.
-    Encouraging students to engage with diverse theories and interpretations in archaeology and cultural heritage.
-    Strengthening national and cultural identity while promoting pluralism through knowledge-based participation.
-    Encouraging a positive societal perception of archaeology and cultural heritage as essential fields within the tourism industry.

-    Exploring Francophone culture and contemporary topics within the Francophone world.
-    Understanding oral discourse and written texts across various fields.
-    Analyzing linguistic, cultural, and social aspects of literary, journalistic, and other types of texts.
-    Developing oral expression skills and the ability to write summaries and analytical texts.
-    Acquiring knowledge of oral and written translation techniques.
-    Applying scientific research methodologies in academic studies.
-    Developing a Knowledge Database on Palestinian Archaeology
-    Implementing practical applications of acquired skills in the fields of archaeology and tourism.
-    Equipping students with fieldwork and laboratory skills for data collection and analysis, ensuring proficiency in archaeological research methods.

-    Teaching in schools, cultural centers, and language institutions.
-    Translation and Interpretation in different sectors and organizations.
-    International Relations in Francophone governmental and non-governmental organizations, including embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions.
-    Business Administration and Marketing in the public, private, or non-profit sectors in business management, marketing, and cultural project promotion.
-    Tourism and Palestinian Archaeology: Employment in museums, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, cultural heritage management, and archaeological project administration.
