Major French Language / Minor International Relations

The French Language Major / International Relations Minor program aims to provide an educational and research environment for students interested in cultural diversity, openness, and languages. It offers teaching and learning methods that promote academic excellence, refining students' linguistic, analytical, and cultural skills. The program paves the way for students to advance both locally and globally by pursuing graduate studies in International Relations, Literature, Culture, Linguistics, Translation, or other related fields, and by integrating into the job market in relevant sectors.

  • Enhancing the academic level of graduates in alignment with global and national standards, enabling them to enter the job market and/or pursue graduate studies, making them active contributors to national progress and development.
  • Empowering students to acquire linguistic skills, including proficiency in speech and communication, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), as well as socio-cultural communication skills.
  • Enabling students to explore Francophone societies and cultures, and to understand the social and political implications of the spread of the French language in these communities.
  • Developing students' methodological and analytical skills, including proficiency in research tools and critical thinking.
  • Fostering students' autonomy in learning and equipping them with knowledge about Palestinian state institutions, as well as international, regional, and local organizations.
  • Enhancing students’ ability to analyze the international environment, including its various elements and evolving dynamics.
  • Providing the job market with qualified graduates in the field of International Relations, capable of working in Palestinian state institutions, as well as international, regional, and local organizations.
  • Strengthening national identity in a way that supports the Palestinian cause both locally and internationally.
  • Exploring contemporary culture and topics in the Francophone world.
  • Understanding spoken discourse and written texts across various fields.
  • Analyzing linguistic, cultural, and social aspects related to literary, journalistic, and other types of texts.
  • Developing oral expression skills and the ability to write summaries and analytical texts.
  • Familiarizing with oral and written translation techniques.
  • Acquiring the ability to follow a scientific methodology in academic research.
  • Introducing International Relations as a branch of Political Science, including its theories, intellectual schools, key concepts, and research methodologies.
  • Understanding fundamental political processes, institutions, and key actors at both national and international levels.
  • Analyzing political issues and phenomena using Political Science concepts, theories, and methodologies.
  • Conducting comparative analyses of different case studies and international issues.
  • Examining and interpreting the relationship between politics, economics, culture, and other factors at both domestic and international levels.
  • Teaching in schools, cultural centers, and language institutions.
  • Translation and Interpretation in different sectors and organizations.
  • International Relations in Francophone governmental and non-governmental organizations, including embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions.
  • Business Administration and Marketing in the public, private, or non-profit sectors in business management, marketing, and cultural project promotion.
  • Tourism and Palestinian Archaeology: Employment in museums, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, cultural heritage management, and archaeological project administration.
