Major Chemistry/ Minor Marketing

The mission of the bachelor program major in chemistry/minor in marketing is to provide students with the background needed for chemistry and/or related marketing positions in chemistry. The program introduces students to major marketing theories, practices and trends that enable them create, communicate and deliver value in an ethical manner. In addition, the program prepares students to pursue graduate studies in relevant fields.

  • Provide students with a broad foundation in chemistry while integrating basic marketing skills that enable them to deliver technical instrument and products in an ethical manner.
  • Apply chemical principles in solving chemical problems.
  • Become proficient in chemical and marketing techniques and apply them with in work environment.
  • Equip students with the necessary communication skills required to succeed in job related activities.
  • Demonstrate decision-making and time management skills.
  • Supplying appropriately trained graduates with required knowledge and skills to enhance employment and career opportunities in the relevant fields.
  • Recognizing the basic marketing concepts, theories, practices, techniques and methodologies.
  • Recognize the roles of chemists as marketers in the context of an organization and the community.
  • Preparing students for admission in professional qualifications and post-graduate studies in the field.
  • Stimulating and challenging reasoning ability by teaching students to think chemists and behave as business marketers.
  • Developing the abilities to apply analytical thinking and operating skills to find solution to chemical problems.
  • Recognize the needs of chemistry related businesses make decision and follow up with action.
  • Developing persuasive marketing and management skills.
  • Developing conceptual skills in business marketing language, interpersonal, communication, oral and written communication, networking, decision-making, critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Applying the scientific analyses and methodology in operating related chemistry related instruments and chemicals
  • Performing the required tasks on a timely manner
  • Enhancing oral and written communication skills, and problem solving abilities.
  • Applying learning in chemistry and business marketing skills to different business settings.
  • Conducting assigned tasks professionally and evaluate career practices’ needs based ethical criteria
  • Teamwork and the ability to tackle a practical work, and analysis of the results, data, arguments and cases.
  • Information retrieval in relation to literature information sources, including online searches and information technology skills.

Graduates of the bachelor program can be employed within the following:

  • Governmental sector:  including education, various ministries such as Ministry of Environment, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health, the Water Authority and Metrology,
  • Private sector: including science education and the pharmaceutical companies,
  • Industrial sector: including research centers and non-governmental organizations, and
  • Pursuing graduate studies at the national and international levels.
