Professional Degree specialized in Legal Skills (For Lawyers and Legal Professionals)

The program aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Providing legal knowledge and training on practical aspects and developments in the Palestinian law, including the proceedings before courts under the new civil and commercial laws, in addition to penal trials and evidence procedures.
  • Providing participants with the necessary skills to prepare in various legal and litigation documents such as litigation regulations, memos and pleadings.
  • Building and analyzing cases in lawyer's offices and before courts, departments and competent authorities, including cases regarding land, labor, rent, insurance, and others.
  • Practicing legal follow up, presenting evidence, talking to witnesses and presenting arguments.
  • Training on the know-hows of enforcing judgments before the competent authorities.
  • Building and providing legal consultations and drafting agreements and contracts.
  • Managing the lawyer's office, dealing with clients, calculating fees, preparing and organizing files.
  • Practicing the usage of legal libraries.
  • Training in the use of information technology professionally, and utilizing computerized legal rules to facilitate the extraction of legislation and judicial decisions.
  • Improving participants’ skills in legal research, drafting, analysis and dialogue.
  •  Interacting and working with a team in workshops, meetings, lectures, mock trials and organizing field legal activities to ensure the benefit of participants and serve the local community.
  • Strengthening the values and ethics of the legal profession, to perform legal services and to achieve the interests of clients ethically and professionally.
  • Promoting justice and rule of law.

Program duration

One year, divided into three academic terms, each term is four months.

Targeted group

Fresh law graduates, trainee lawyers, lawyers, legal counsels in government departments (if their field of work is limited to the competent courts with the Public Prosecution, i.e. applicants who provide legal advice to public prosecution in cases of higher administrative justice).

Method of Teaching

A Variety of teaching methods will be applied with a focus on practical aspects in addition to research, analysis, discussion, workgroups, lectures and other interactive methods.
