The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit has partnered with DROSOS FOUNDATION to co-organize 4 TEDx events: 2 in the West Bank and 2 in the Gaza Strip.

The TEDx events are an open platform for Palestinian teens and youth to build and demonstrate their confidence, self-esteem, innovation potential and creativity. The platform provides them with the ability to voice their experiences and articulate how their energy, passion, and big dreams can ignite and sustain positive change in their communities.  For the attentive audience, it is about engaging with inspirational stories – stories of breaking molds and smashing stereotypes, stories of overcoming struggles, hardships, and fears, defying the odds, succeeding in the face of adversity, surviving tragedy and displaying strength and resilience.  The stories of perseverance and success are devoted to inspiring the youth audience of the need for positive change – what listeners can do to bring about this change and the benefits this change will bring for them, everyone, and beyond.

The Theme

Breaking Molds! Worldwide, there are about 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 29 – the largest youth population ever. Much of this youth population is concentrated in developing countries. In fact, in the world’s 48 least developed countries, including Palestine, children or adolescents make up a majority of the population.  Many of these young people see their potential hindered by poverty, unemployment, exclusion, discrimination, or lack of access to information. This year's TEDx Birzeit events are designed to inspire audiences with authentic stories and powerful positive messages that project an optimistic vision of the future injecting enthusiasm and conveying good energy, which prompts people to see the best in themselves and in difficult situations.  This inspiration is powerful and works as a driving force for the development and growth of the listeners.  They accept and value that hard work, effort, and perseverance are key to achieving their goals.

What is TEDx Birzeit?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our events are called TEDxBirzeit, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBirzeit event, TED Talks video and live speakers (both children and youngsters) will spark deep discussions and connections on the local community level. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxBirzeit, are self-organized.  Read more on the TEDx Program.

Be part of the organizing team

We are looking for an executive team to help plan and run the TEDx Birzeit events.  We are on the look for people who can take ownership of certain primary tasks. They should have both the skills and the bandwidth to fulfill their role. Priority will be given to those who are self-managed and hard-working individuals.  Every person on the executive team will be designated a role that fits their specific skill set.   Following are the roles that we are looking for:
Executive Producer
Event Manager
Designer
