Workshop Presents Research on infertility Among Palestinian Women

A consultative workshop was held on 16 April at the Birzeit University Institute of Community and Public Health (ICPH) entitled “Infertility among Palestinian Women: Urgent Medical and Socio-cultural Concerns.”
The workshop included presentations on the psychosocial impact of infertility on Palestinian women, according to research conducted by ICPH faculty and researchers. Presentations also discussed medical management and laparoscopy procedures newly initiated at Palestinian government hospitals and supported by the Italian Cooperation and AISPO (Associazione Italiana per la Solidarietà tra i Popoli), while the research was conducted by ICPH.
Over 30 individuals participated, some of them from broader health specializations, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, doctors, nurses, researchers, a couple suffering from infertility who was invited to speak and who called for governmental support for infertile couples, and local health organization representatives.
Director of the Italian Cooperation in Jerusalem Vincenzo Racalbuto also attended and concluded the event with a few remarks on the importance of such research and its sustainability.
