Visiting Professor Describes Estonian E-Government Experience

The Birzeit University Computer Science Department organized on February 24, 2015 a lecture on the Estonian experience in e-government, particularly the role of academia, delivered by Professor Ingrid Babilon of the Technical University of Tallinn in Estonia.

Babilon focused on the Estonian experience in e-government and its advantages, the nature of the obstacles and difficulties encountered and the solutions that overcame them. Babilon also addressed how academia partnered with the government to move the project forward. She said that the academic sector helped implement the government’s plans in less time and more efficiently. She also said that while the e-government experience in Estonia succeeded on the state level, it still faced challenges among municipalities and local government.
