University, Ministry of Agriculture Study Prospects of Cooperation

Birzeit University President Abdel Latif Abu Hijleh received on April 18, 2016 Minister of Agriculture Sufian Sultan Al-Tamimi, and discussed how the two parties can work together.“Birzeit University seeks to develop more and more new contacts, sharing its unique experience and providing opportunities for students and employees to obtain up-to-date knowledge and valuable experience,” Abu Hijleh said.“We must be proactive to ensure the agricultural mechanics curriculum maintains its relevance in the changing environment. Our responsibility is to prepare our educators and students to facilitate that change.”Minister Al-Tamimi assured that working with academia is part of the ministry’s mission. “We are keen to  offer a cooperative, comprehensive academic program covering various topics in agriculture, food science,  natural resources and much more.”“It is a high priority for us to educate students and communities in ways that enable their future success in local and regional economies,” Al- Tamimi continued. “We cannot forget the important role of the continuous development of new knowledge and new technologies, which are vital to help farmers and the agriculture sector, as an integral part in the economic development process in Palestine.”
