University helps formulate Arab Charter of Ethics of Science and Technology in regional consultation meeting

Khalid Swaileh, dean of the Faculty of Science at Birzeit University, took part in a regional consultation meeting for the Arab Charter of Ethics of Science and Technology, held at the Royal Scientific Society’s headquarters in Amman, Jordan, on Monday, November 19, 2018. 

In the meeting, the attending representatives of universities, research institutes, and ministries of education from Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon discussed the charter draft, which addressed three topics: ethics of science and technology production, ethics of science and technology transfer and localization, and ethics of science and technology application. 

Swaileh presented Birzeit University’s “Guidelines for Research Support,” ethical principles and guidelines by which all academics, researchers, and students have to abide.
